refused catalogue credit account?

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could help me.
I have just applied for an account with Very Catalogue as i have seen some furniture for my bedroom which i have liked for a while which is now at a greatly reduced price and thought i could take advantage of the buy now pay in 12months free credit (my plan was to pay £50per month on it for 10months) as it is approx £500 but i was refused a credit account with them?
I have never missed a payment on anything.
I have always used credit but never been in a huge ammount of debt or struggled to pay anything back and i only ever use 0%cards and transfer then to another 0% card when its deal runs out. Currently only have £1500 on a 0% RBS card. I also have a 4/5 rating on my Noddle, work fulltime and am a homeower (mortgaged).
It's no problem as i paid for it outright but like i said if there is a interest free cred option i use it to my advantage. Im just curious why i get accepted for credit cards which have good deals on but not a standard catalogue account?
Could it be something to so with my address and that i have only lived there for 2.5years? (not that that has affected me getting credit otherwise) any ideas?
Thanks

Seems unusual. It is usually relatively easy to get a credit account with them.
Have you had any catalogue accounts before (that could be the same company)
Might be worth checking your credit files with experian & equifax as well if you haven't looked at them recently?
Presumably you are on the electoral roll at your current address?
Are you financially associated with anyone on your credit files (any joint accounts) - and do they have any issues with their credit files that you are aware of?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Hiya
I am in a similar position credit wise. I pay my cards off in full each month & don't have any outstanding debt except a mortgage.
I tried to apply for a 0% card recently & was refused. When I asked why they said it was because I have reached my available borrowing limit. I have 2 cards with credit limits of approx £4000 & 1 with a limit of approx £10000 plus a couple of store cards. My total borrowing limit is obviously therefore around £20000 so I wasn't given any more.
In short, even though I have no debt or outstanding balances they don't want to lend me any more just in case I go crazy with the cards one day:)
It might be a similar reason for your refusal?0 -
Tixy - Thanks for replying! yes i am on the electoral roll. I looked on my Noddle and i am not linked financially to anyone on there, not even my OH who i live with (mortgage is in my name only as he had recently gone self employed when we bought our home so he couldnt go on the mortgage)
I bet its about 10years since i had something from a catalogue, I have a next account which I use occasionally but i dont usually use catalogues its only that they had 50% off furniture sale on very that i ordered from them as its fullprice elsewhere. I will get an equifax or experian - Thanks!
mumlady1 - thanks - you may have a point - just looked on my noddle and i have a few doormant accounts (old cred cards) with no balance on that i have just cut the cards up but not cancelled! Maybe that could be the probim going to cancel some now!! I never gave that a second thought! Thankyou!!
