I'd be grateful if anyone could help me with this?
I have 4 or 5 columns (depending on whether it is a 4 or 5 week month).
Each column has several monetary entries and is individually totalled at the bottom. If I overspend, then the totalled amount is a negative amount. If I come in under budget there is a positive amount left.
I have the cells highlighted (using the conditional formatting option) so that a positive amount shows up as green and a negative amount shows up as red. (No idea if that affects anything I want to do now, just mentioned it in case.)
I now want to have a running total so that my total overspend or total underspend is calculated for the month.
Is it possible to format a cell to add either all positive numbers in a range and ignore the negative ones? Or visa versa?
I still have a lot to learn about Excel so please don't assume I will know what you mean if you use short cuts or abbreviations in any replies.
Thanks in advance if anyone can help.

You want to use the SumIf function so to get the positive ones it would be something like:
=SUMIF(C2:C12, ">0")0 -
Thank you so much for taking the time. I have now managed to do what I was after, with your help. :beer:Herman - MP for all!0
