Command and Conquer Strategy Game

Hi All,

Does anyone remember a C&C strategy game for the PC that was set during World War 2 (The D-Day landing I think), and the user could be Allies or Germans? What was the name of this game and can it be downloaded for free?

it was Command and Conquer Red Alert (the first one)

Theres also Red Alert 2, which followed on from it but used more futuristic tech, like prism tanks/towers.

Red Alert 3 is the newest and adds the Japanese (this is often on sale on steam)

Was it not Soviets vrs Allies rather than WWII based?

Wasn't Red Alert an alternative WW2 timeline where Hitler was erased from time, preventing his rise to power and leading to the Soviet invasion?

As far as I know, there hasn't been an Allies vs German C&C game. There isn't one springing to mind anyway (I can only think of GDI vs Nod, Allies vs Soviets, and Generals' US vs China vs GLA conflict).

Red Alert is an alternate history, WWII was between Soviet and Allied forces. Germany was part of the allied force. And you can play as them in Red Alert 2 which had Einstein inventing new tech

I'm wondering if I'm wrong about it being in the C&C series, however users could command German or Russian soldiers in the Eastern front or German and Bristish/American forces on the D-Day landings.

dont think thats a command and conquer game. Was it an RTS ?

Medal of Honour: AA also has the D-Day landings too, but that was a FPS

As did Battlefield 1942, with its Omaha Beach level, and you could play on either side.

Company of Heroes was WW2 as far as I remember, but I think it's a little harsh on specs so I'd check with http://systemrequirementslab.com/cyri prior to purchase.
