This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good morning everyone
Weather was a bit wet, windy and wild overnight again but seems to have calmed a bit this morning.
Have completely messed up carefully planned finances by paying a bill twice and don't fancy my chances of getting the money back, though of course I will give it a go. Oh well at least it means another £231 off debt total
DH is obsessed with cooking curry at the moment so am leaving dinner in his capable hands. He's very good at it and I get to put my feet up after work! Speaking of which, I better get a move on.
Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or want them. Keep well, warm and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Will catch up with you soon xxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -

Morning All
Wet and windy here, washing will go on the airers. DW to go on when I leave for work. DD in shower so I will go in after her.
The builder came yesterday and boarded the loft, so much space to fill with so much carp!! Put what I could in then had to wait for DD to come home for the heavier stuff. Thought we had finished, came downstairs and there were 2 more boxes! They can wait till tonight.
I think the builder is coming back to look at the leaks today if it's not too windy.
Not sure what's for tea, maybe macaroni cheese for DD and I can have an omelette.
Take care. XX0 -
Morning all,
Dry here atm but we are due more rain later on today it also rained heavily all night.
Off to work today dd is off and will finish off her assignments etc at home, she can clear the kitchen for me and put a wash on and hang on airer.
Dinner will be something and chips maybe fishcakes and I have my shopping being delivered tonight.
Have good days all xx0 -
Wet and cold here, brrrr.
DD & SiL have now got their keys to a dirty house (noted in agent's inventory so must be bad) - and a bottle of wine by way of apology from landlord: what about the hard cash he cost us/them?
Despite a chaotic weekend I managed to lose 1.5 lbs this week - almost at my first stone now, but a l-o-n-g way to go!
Today I am sorting out an activity for the Brownies and unearthing some "Egyptian" costumes from the loft, making a cake for my parents and trying to sort out bits for the holiday (hair apt, prescriptions, etc etc). Really, all I want to do is curl up with my book and eat chocolate.
Lamb koftas for dinner, with beansprout stirfry.
Have a good day and stay warm xI can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
Morning everyone
Cloudy, windy and damp underfoot, had rain from sometime during the night, forecast is for rain again today although not raining at the moment.
DH up and gone to work.
Dinner last night was slow cooker beef stew and dumplings, served it with new potatoes, carrots, broccoli and green beans. Managed to save 1 portion that is now safely in the freezer. Tonight we will be having spag bol – may make some HM bread to accompany – haven’t made bread for absolutely ages and fancy doing that later today.
Work yesterday wasn’t too busy. Now on days off, did the normal chores that I do on a Wednesday afternoon. Today will be more of the same – trying to get jobs done, need to get going with the washing, drying and ironing – although I have been keeping on top of the washing and drying as have been using the airer to get it dry instead of the TD. Have a load in the WM ready to go onto the airer – only problem with that is that it takes a while to dry – so it’s an ongoing job instead of washing, putting it in the drier and an hour later it’s ready to iron etc. Hoping the difference with not using it will show in the next electric bill – if it’s not much different I’ll go back to using TD as and when needed.
Have been consistently watching the spends and trying to be as good as possible and not spend money unnecessarily – especially where food shopping is concerned – so far since last Friday’s shop have only done 1 top up shop and that was only for milk and a bottle of wine – so a spend of £5.47 – so if I can last out today without spending anything – I don’t actually need to buy anything – I will have had a week of only spending on 1 day after the main shop. I find it’s the “little” top up shops that add up for me – if I can get my menu/planning right and then buy accordingly then I don’t need to go back for more – the only problem being is the fridge/freezer I’ve got is very big but I can only fit in a limited amount of the 4/6 pint milk cartons in it so can’t actually buy enough milk for the week – so always have to top up for milk. I do keep a carton on UHT in the cupboard for emergencies but I really don’t like it and only use it if there’s no other choice.
I’m going for a nail appointment this morning – will be so pleased to get them done as they’re a real mess.
Had a nice letter yesterday containing the £25 cashback cheque I’ve been chasing for the past 2 months – that will be banked tomorrow – and I will be paying £25 off the cc too.
We’ve decided to take the boys out for dinner on Sunday evening . After this weekend – we’ve got a busy 5 weeks – we have commitments every weekend from next weekend to the end of March – the boys aren’t involved in any of it as it’s caravan stuff they’re not interested in. Have booked a table at the local Indian as we’ve been saying we would take them and haven’t and we haven’t been there for several years – so will be a nice change from cooking Sunday roast.
Must crack on.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all,
Had a nice day yesterday. Met Dad for coffee at Dobbies, which turned into two cupsPopped to the shops and treated myself to a couple of new tops and another cushion for when the Lounge is revamped.
DS2 is working with DH again today and DH is out tonight at a football dinner so me and DS2 will probably have pizza for tea.
Have a good day.0 -

Quick post from me today.
Didn't sleep too well last night (too much buzzing around my head thanks to my ex husband) so I'm a real grouch today. Already snapped at my dh before he left for work.
Got to work today for an hour as the boiler has broke again and the fitter is popping out to fix it (so much for a week off, been in already for 3 hours fixing storm damage)
Got a friend popping in today and hopefully will be seeing dgd for a bit as well.
Anyhoo time to shake my bootie. Hugs to all
Bright blessings xxBright Blessings xx0 -
