Lloyds Bank requesting £7k debt after 3 years-help!

Hi,
I received a letter today from Lloyds Bank recoveries dept stating I have an opening balance of £7k and the same closing balance. They have not charged me anything and its the first letter I have had from them in over 3 years. I have previously had a CCJ with them which was paid off for a lower than this amount over 12 months ago.
I have no idea what this is for so I called them and they said it needs to be paid. They offered me a payment plan to pay the debt!
Where do I stand as I have not had any correspondence from them for the last 3 years until now, they have not charged me any interest etc and I dont know where this amount has come from?
I am worried for my credit rating as I am about to embark on taking out a new mortgage!!
Help.....

They refused to tell you what it was for?
Maybe adapt this ---> Letter when you know nothing about about the debt - AKA "Prove it" letter
Also check your credit file to see if they have put anything they shouldn't on them.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Does the amount they are quoting match the amount that defaulted and resulted in the CCJ, so are they the same debt?
If so have you got anything in writing confirming that there was a full and final settlement agreed with the creditor for less than the original debt?
If the letter relates to the debt you have already paid based on an earlier agreement then you need to make the situation clear to the lender.0 -
Is this account on your credit report?
What does it show?:beer:0
