    MsFF,

You are to be commended on your organisation and energy! I have been putting off organising a budget, except for food, as was in the throes of retiring when I found MSE and was not exactly sure how much my income was going to be.

I am now completely retired, haven't yet started pension payments and will need those set-up before I can apply for OH's top-up on his pension...all excuses not to sit down and do complete budget....procrastination is my middle name!

I agree, got the idea from this thread and adapted to suit me. http://organizedhome.net/viewtopic.php?t=336&highlight=autumn

I found one notebook didnt work for me and my notebooks evolved over a few months; I use flylady's control journals alongside and my system works really well.

    I have
    - Finance - cash spends, banking and utilities
    - Instruction books for appliances etc (plastic pockets in a lever arch)
    - household and cleaning - (Flylady but includes frugal ideas etc incl from MSE)
    - Meal planning (includes recipes to try out and meals list for inspiration)
    - Christmas Control Journal (Flylady)
    - Craft notebook - for projects and ideas including hm gifts and cards
    - PC Notebook (software reg nos. forum logs ins, email/website/domain info, and now incudes list of progs and settings for use after reformat and what to back up before reformat!

Most of these are just ring binders and easy to keep up together, quick to refer to and simple to update or amend as needs change.
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D
