  • I just wanted to add that I forced my son to do the NCS this past summer. I dragged him kicking and screaming... well, not quite, but almost. And, at the end, I actually got a 'Thank you' from him. He really enjoyed it and made a lot of new friends. Well worth it.
  • I went myself when it was first introduced a year or so ago now and absolutely loved it! Im now debating becoming a leader for my local program because of how much i enjoyed it. I was luckily enough to know someone who was going as well which helped but most people who go have no idea who anyone is so your able to make some mates pretty easily, i still have most of them as friends on Facebook an we plan on having a reunion soon.

Would recommend to anyone with nothing to do over the holidays 4 weeks or so of your time for a load of qualifications and a good laugh

Variable - dependant on the local group leaders. Found ours to be a bit of a shambles TBH. Very poor organisation, diabolical planning and useless communication. I'd suggest getting a bit of feedback on your local team before committing. Great bunch of leaders but couldn't organise the proverbial shindig in a brewery. I ended up doing one of the midnight parent trips to collect teen + 3 mates form a flooded campsite - and stopping at a motorway services to feed them all as the 'leaders' hadn't brought much more than packet soup and some crisps to feed them all with...:)
  • Hey forumites.

Do you have any National Citizen Service feedback you'd like to share? Like…

    • Has your child been?
    • Did they enjoy it?
    • What did they learn?

You can register your child for the upcoming Oct half-term programme (as long as they've not been before). Full info: https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/deals/national-citizen-service/#50635

Taxpayer pays £1,800 per placement with over 100,000 placements a year, therefore, £1,800 x over 100,000 = over £180,000,000 every year, it's another waste of taxpayer money!
