The Peel Centre Bracknell - an example to us all

I parked in this 850 space car park today and was pleasantly surprised. Free for first two hours, pay per hour after that, free from 8pm until 7am. If you are playing bowls or seeing a film you can get an extra hour.
OK, there are the usual absurd penalties for not paying, but why should you not pay? There are no nasty traps, no knuckle draggers issuing tickets, you can go into town five minutes walk away.
Why cannot all PPCs operate this model, is it because Bracknell Council subsidize it, or do the retailers with a presence there do so, I cannot imagine Euro Parks raking in much in penalties.,

You never know how far you can go until you go too far.

I live I'm Bracknell and have total respect for whoever runs the car park.
It's totally unheard of these days for it to be free parking. Even paying is cheap.
I go there almost daily and love it for its ease of use. Very rare these days.Amo L'Italia0 -
Is it a different Peel Centre that has featured many times in this forum?0

Yes. The one that features regularly is in Stockport.
I use a Park and Ride in Sheffield in order to use the local Tram.
The cost is a flat rate £1.00 - is barrier-operated and is excellent. There are three and I believe they are all the same. Most convenient and not a private parking company in sight.0 -

In fairness, it's in a unique location. The station and industrial premises are better served by other car parks, which are a plenty. You would only really go there to use the shops and entertainment facilities.Search my post " PoPLA evidence - What to submit" on what is a good defense for a PoPLA appeal.0 -

You can understand why other retail parks would use a deterent system for people who do not use their shops, but it's become a major cash cow now. A barrier system, with refund when spending so much in a shop or restaurant seems so obvious.Search my post " PoPLA evidence - What to submit" on what is a good defense for a PoPLA appeal.0 -
It's free for the first two hours because it's Bracknell - have they started building the new shopping centre yet, following the demolition work last summer?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

I live down the road, but rarely travel to Bracknell. Whenever I went there, it was rarley full. Is that still the case?
Guess it's down to the landowner and what's in the tenancy agreement with the retailers. They may contribute to the free parking, or it may be in the head lease from years back. If it works, don't fix it.Search my post " PoPLA evidence - What to submit" on what is a good defense for a PoPLA appeal.0
