    Hi
Was on holiday when you posted...just read it now.
First set going well, until we had to fell an ancient apple tree and it took a few out with a branch. I have a few just filling their little balloons now so will try in a week or so to see how it is doing. None at 2 inches though - dead jealous!!!
Second set, this lot are from a heritage seed set, have had a few mishaps - the first really big one snapped when i tried to repot on [that hasn't happened in years - was devastated], and it was the only seed that germinated - so sowed some more. They came up and 2 were put into the ground in the courtyard...one had its stalk bent over by some wildlife so i very carefully straightened it and tied it to a cane, and it recovered. When i got back from hols today both are really big, with lots of flowers and so the balloons will come soon.
Fingers crossed for a long warmish september, to let them mature enough...don't hold out much hope though.

    Hi.
Latest news is that yesterday i harvested my first tomatillo. It was about an inch in diameter, but it was coming out of the little balloon so i took it off. It got chopped up and added to a spag bol.
marvelous - and loads more to come

Resurrecting this old thread because I have just harvested my own first tomatillos. I'm making a huge chilli tomorrow and they will go into that.
I got the green ones from realseeds, 2 bushes, one has loads of small fruit on it and the other, less fruit but bigger.

I'd be very interested in hearing what people use theirs for. My ideas so far are..... adding them raw to salads (we just ate one raw, tasted nice) adding them to chilli/tomato sauces and making salsa, although I'm not really sure what you eat salsa with...

My OH says she is sure she has had them raw on top of ice cream in the past.
Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.
