Have an eerie feeling about all this. Its terribly slow. And i manage to over complicate the simplest of things (ask my wife!) I am still sending letters and token payments out, just overdraft and personal loan to go but I dont have my loan details on me and sending myself a pound cheque for the overdraft seems odd.
I am one of those people who if I have tasks to do I feel anxious until they are done.
A list of things to do today:
1)Send letters to HSBC,SANTANDER Loan and overdraft, BARCLAYCARD and Postoffice
2)Get forms for coming off Lloyds Joint
3)move direct debit for Mortgage, Council Tax, Electric, TV license, Car insurance, House Insurance, Mobile, Sky.
4)wife to move her DD from my account
5)wait longingly for payday on 3rd March!!!!!!!!!!!Looking to start a DMP for over 50k of debt.0 -
Morning,
Sunny start again here in Plymouth, think its due to turn yucky later tho like it did yesterday. Felt a bit down yesterday as I'm getting impatient already. But dragged myself to the gym (home gym in mates garage FOC) and felt good for it.
Ive been absent minded at work in the last few weeks and have made several errors that have shown themselves all this week. Its been tough!!
But my head is back in the game now.
I've realised I am just one of them people who needs to be kept busy otherwise my concentration drifts and I don't get anything done!! I'm also very very very impatient! I want it all.and I want it now! which is where the gambling and money problems have came from
Money wise I have now sent all but one letters (the loan one) and token payments, I 'm working through the direct debit changes, me and wifey need to go lloyds to change to a single account as they wouldn't give me a form yesterday grrrrrrrrr.
10 days to payday when I can split the cash to all the different saving posts for the budget and I can feel some sense of control
And....................ITS FRIDAY!!Looking to start a DMP for over 50k of debt.0 -
You are going to have to learn to relax! A dmp is a long slow journey no doubt with highs and lows on the way, time to readdress how we deal with our finances, learning to budget, saying no to purchases, a little treat every now and then and a great big rainbow at the end. Come join the journey and learn to enjoy it, but don't try and run before you can walk....

MY DIARY http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=47686850 -
Hi PlymouthDad, saw some of your messages of support on other diaries so popped along to catch up. Well done for taking control. I went through the whole realisation around 8 months ago and remember well how stressful all the changing bank account business was. But at the end of the day it had to be done and I managed to negotiate with some of my regular DDs at the same time when I contacted them.
My most scary time was the first month when I defaulted on my minimum payments, I sat back and waited for the phone to ring, and boy did it ring! To be fair, as soon as I mentioned I was taking advice from Stepchange they were all pretty much OK and it felt better to get it out of the way.
Hope things go well for you and I will pop by to offer support where I can. As they say, its good to talk.Outstanding debts as of 2/11/20 1/2/21:

I'm still waiting on the joint to sole with the bank accounts before I can swap my salary over to the new account...hope they hurry up!
Going to send the rest of the letters on Mon...

There is a light, thanks for sharing your experiences. Havin read a lot of diaries i get the opinion things will settle down.things havent really started for me yet.
Hb, good luck with the joint account issue. I havent sorted mine yet. But i have opened a nationwide cashcard account and spoke to employer who is going to do a manual payment of wages this month before setting up a standing order into new account when its all sortedLooking to start a DMP for over 50k of debt.0 -
Subscribing for three reasons, you're local, I started off with as much debt (and more) like you and finally, you sound really positive!
Keep going, you will clear it. I'm still waiting for my moment to say woohoo, I'm debt free, but there is NO way I'm going back to being that much in debt, in fact, not going back to ever being in debt.
Good luck!DFW (08/08) £64,346.53 Gone (02/19)

Well that weekend came and went! I didnt spend too much cash either so that was good.
I guess the letters are landing as three £1 cheques have been cashed. is 'exciting' the right word to use?
Still mistakes coming to light at work...is it any coincidence its for work done around my latest LBM?

Hi PD, Are you sure we are not twins, although I'm a few hundred miles away.
I too did the debt remedy test last autumn but thought I could do it myself and preserve "credit" so didn't complete it.
Roll forward 4 months and the wife has given up work to concentrate on her Uni Course, the cards are now totally maxed out (60K) I'm pinned into a corner.
Entered figures into SC and its there in black and white 4 years and 7 months. Budget is fair, wife loves it because she was feeling mega guilty about losing her wage (she does get a few paid hours though) and figured what the hell. What is this fixation with a perfect credit rating.
I've an expensed company car, house is in reasonable shape, build up a little emergency fund this month and away we go.
You are a couple of weeks ahead of me with a similar amount so will be interested to trade notes. I don't think a diary is for me, so I'll probably squat on other peoples
Best of luck anyway and I will be following your progress with interest. (non monetary interest that is :rotfl:)0 -
Blistering blue we could well be! haha. Ive always been the same. Cant make decision, dont like change, let others take the lead, until I have NO CHOICE. So I have no choice but to sort the debts out and so the dmp will be started hopefully ready for beginning of march if not then defo april.
I'm not very good at this diary, I prefer to comment on others'. feel free to keep me going!
I'll give you a debt race if you want. My debts are slightly lower but my repayments maybe as well.... or throw in the mortgages as well if you want.... (what did puzzcat say about walking before you can run again?.....)Looking to start a DMP for over 50k of debt.0
