Facing homelessness

What is so frustrating about it is that by the time the site was due to open, March 1st, the water will have already receded and be back to normal levels. Indeed, it is already dropping quite rapidly now - we keep a watch of the river level on the EA website daily. We wouldn't need to use waders etc. She is just, for some reason, refusing to open again until Easter despite as I said last time being able to get things back to normal within 1 week of waters receding. I do have to wonder if she is simply just being vindictive towards those of us who had to stay last time, despite her telling us to go. Now that everyone is already gone due to the normal February closure, its almost as if she has seized the opportunity with the second wave of flooding to put the boot in. She is known by everyone, even those who live on the residential site, for being generally a very unpleasant person. You may decide to wear waders and stay put, but that is hardly fair or healthy for the dogs. Really you need to find a long term housing solution.
Thank you again for the advice that has been offered, its all very useful for us

could you for the month that you cant go back, share with any of the others on the site perhaps if you could get a 2 bedroom property, would that make it cheaper at all. its worth speaking to the others that find it difficult to see what their solutions would be, going to the owner in a bigger group might make her back down.
also maybe offering to help her out cleaning up in return for staying on site might be a solution.
do you have any family at all, could you pitch a tent by your granddads caravan as an absolute last resort, awful I know but safeish and have access to facilities.
what an awful situation, I hope you get sorted.0 -

We've tried to get in touch with the others, though not very successfully. The problem there though would be that they also have pets. The last we heard from them basically was that they didn't know what they were going to do. We've not been able to get in touch with them since.
The owner has stated recently that should anyone ask to go back, she will not give her permission. She really does not care at all how much she is impacting people by doing this. I suppose at this point we can only hope that the Council are able to successfully negotiate with her, or they can place us somewhere suitable, otherwise... well, I really don't want to bear thinking about what may happen if neither of these things are possible.
I've been frantically searching and sending enquiries off about private rentals but they are all far too expensive, we'd not have enough for bills and food after paying the rent alone
I've done a rough calculation of housing benefit I may be entitled to and the government calculator gave me the paltry sum of £2 per week! I really don't know what use that is to anyone. I work hard full time and that is all I am entitled to, it's really quite sickening. 0 -
Maybe you could find a house-share that would be OK with you bringing your dogs? If you were both wage-earners you could probably afford the £600 a month in rent between you. Sounds like your b/f needs to take any work he can find rather than doing cash-in-hand. Sorry to be harsh but the root of the problem isn't rents, or the dogs, it's your boyfriend.0

Have you tried tweeting https://twitter.com/OxfordCity and asking who to contact.
Something along the lines of "unable to move into accom on March 1 due to flooding, who can we speak to re temp acccom?"If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
I've just read that the Kennel Club have set up a charitable fund to help dogs who's owners have been effected by the floods - might be worth a try to see if they can help with short-term kenneling.
Good Luck. Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!
