I am not on my own with this one but is the process correct?
You receive an estimated reading and pay the bill it is an incorrect reading over but you pay the amount requested.
The next bill is from an accurate meter reading and you have used little gas so should be a small bill but they wind back the readings
and because a price increase has accrued are now charging you extra for the gas you have already paid for.
Now they (the gas supplier) and you do not have accurate records of each days usage so the gas company estimate your usage over this period and include the gas used in the period of your previous bill and increase the cost of that gas supplied you have already paid for this gas.
My analogy of this is you fill your cars fuel tank with petrol/diesel drive around for a couple of days and when you have half a tank left return to the garage for fuel to fill your tank again and the price has increased you expect to pay for the new fuel at a increased price but the garage says no we are winding it back and you will have to pay the increase on the half tank of fuel you have not used yet as well s the new fuel.

Yes, they are correct. When you get your incorrect bill, read your meter and supply them with accurate meter readings and they will re-bill you with accurate charges.0
