You can appeal because sometimes they make you do a speed awareness course instead, I would definitely give you a try.

That's very nice but could you keep your personal feelings for the OP to yourself please? This is neither the time nor the place for flirting ;)

What are you appealing against? You pleaded guilty.

You can appeal against a sentence, not just a conviction.
    What will your verse be?

It's gone to court, courts have no power to award a speed awareness course, only the police can do that.

As I understand it the awareness courses are offered at the sole discretion of the police for offences marginally over the limit. IIRC in a 30 limit it is about 36mph.

    But you pleaded guilty.

The time for asking for a rehearing on the basis that the summons was incorrectly served has long gone.

You would be throwing good money after bad to make application to the Crown Court now against sentence - on the basis of your guilty plea there is no basis for appealing against conviction.

Here are the guidelines, courtesy of North Yorkshire Police

You will note 35 - 42 in a 30mph zone for a speed awareness course.

There has clearly been a mess up by the police, court or both. Whether it is worth challenging it for what boils down to £50 is questionable.

I think the point is that the conviction is already extant and that there is no obligation to offer the course, only a discretion - even the link says that they "may" offer a course, not that they will.
