I have seen someone on Facebook posting 'I'm not allowed to post on MSE so could one of you post it' to their followers. But I find it a strange rule, I guess it's done to stop the forum becoming an advertising space, but we read this forum to get comps, I'm not sure it matters too much to me how they end up here, as long as they do. Does it really matter if the blog owner posts a comp, or someone who happens to be subscribed to their blog posts it? (rhetorical question not intended to spark all-out war :-) )

I think that those of us who visit MSE purely for the comp boards tend to forget the bigger picture. There are boards dedicated to many different things, e.g. credit cards, bank accounts, loans. Martin can't have anyone who wishes posting what amount to adverts for their cards, loans, accounts etc, there are a lot of unscrupulous people out there. One rule for all of the boards must surely make it easier for Admin to control.
