2003 1.2 16v Renault Clio displays ABS warning light and clears on restarting on car. Highly suspect ABS sensor/ring.
I am looking for a code reader, I have a U380 which the connector is just too big to fit onto the clio connector.
Can anyone recommend me a low price reader, as 2nd hand value is non-existent so its single use and store forever use.
Rgds,
Ao

had a cheapy £45.00 one form fleabay, although it read it wasnt accurate enough.
coil pack fault came up as a map sensor error.
throttle position came up as air temp sensor error.
£100 reader read them as they are coil pack being coil pack, lambda being lambda, throttle position as being throttle position. only trouble after than was main dealer specific software codes, snap on reader would read some but not all of them, Renault clip reader was always spot on.0 -
Ouchie, that's more expensive than sending it to Renault to be read.
I only want to know which corner to start looking at next time the wheels are off. I am happy with re-starting the car when driving along to clear the indication, as its not every day.0 -
The £20 readers off eBay will not read or clear ABS faults, only engine ones.
There may be a multifunction tool suitable for renaults but it wont be cheap.
Check your sensor rings, on some cars they rust underneath and split.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

I don't think the U380 was a great communicator in the first place and there are so many knock-offs the problem is getting worse. However I really don't understand how the plug doesn't fit!0

The U380 is only for engine codes, but it should fit. Check your socket, as sometimes there is a small plastic cap to pull off first: you do have the OBD socket? It must be accessible without tools from the drivers seat.
As before, if you suspect abs rings, they are only £1.99 each, inspect yours visually.
I have a Chinese Autel clone, works great except the one they copied has a faulty usb port, so mine does too and it won't update.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

I bought a £50 Autel reader and it clears all the faults as it reads all the different errors logged in the various ECU's.0

The clio connector is behind the ash tray connector. I shall try and fit it again. It just looked far far far too small to fit.
The fault is not all the time, it comes on when driving, you knock the ignition off and on when driving, the fault clears and you carry on. Not to be seen again for another few weeks or so. If i can identify the corner, ill replace that sensor and be done with it.0
