First Utilty Deal Ending

My Fixed deal with First Utility is due to end on 31st March and I want away as soon as I can as they are the worst company I have ever had to deal with. Not had a bill since July 2013 and spent countless hours on the phone and email trying to sort it with no luck.

Looking at comparison sites the cheapest for me are:

OVO Fixed Rate for 12 months = £1311 per year

Scottish Power Fixed Price February 2015 = £1341 per year

EDF Blue+Price Promise June 2015 = £1424 per year

or I could fix until March 2017 with EDF = £1555 per year

Am at a loss what to do as want cheapest tariff possible but not at the cost of really poor customer service like I have had with First Utility. Never heard of OVO so unsure if they could potentially be like First Utility.

Also not sure if I would be best fixing for a longer period but paying more per unit. We have our second baby due in April so my Wife will be at home over her maternity leave so we are likely to use more energy this year.

I am leaning towards the Scottish Power one as that has the lowest unit cost for both gas and electric so assuming we use more units this year then I guess we would be better off.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Check out single fuel deals first. That may work out cheaper and then you may only get one bad supplier!

I went to Better Energy for my Gas (they seem good, they email me for meter readings and send me bills). They are variable not fixed rate but cheaper than the others were (Oct 2013)

Unfortunately I went for FUtility for my Electric and they are rubbish (at least so far)...
