Im a complete novice at this so im pretty clueless!
Im looking at setting up a business, slowly slowly.
Cooking with kids, for preschool children (as a class at a certain time) within schools if i get the chance and parties etc.
Im just wondering where to start in terms of what kind of certificates and insurances i need? would i need to have my own kitchen inspected if not cooking there?
Also in the midst of deciding if i'd want premises or whether id ask to set up at playgroups/community halls etc.
any ideas would be much appreciated
Thanks

I believe you'll need to be CRB checked (Criminal Record Bureau) before you can work with children. This is something the school or organisation would request, rather than yourself.
Sounds like a fun business to be in, and I wish you luckAlways interested in networking with small business owners with regard to marketing opportunities...0 -
You may need your own kitchen inspected if you are keeping or prepping raw/fresh ingredients there as presumably the kids will be eating anything thats produced.
Your local council will be the ones to chat to on many of these areas and most are fairly approachable/friendly. Do your homework first by reading the free information they publish on their website.0 -

Its a DBS check these days, the check isn't stricty need to work with children as a contractor, but they won't be abale to leave you on your own for a second, to which this would cause schools problems to which many just wouldn't bother.
With that you can get a DBS check done and sign up to the DBS update service which makes you certificate much more portable and constantly up to date online.
All the usual business for handling food will be needed to which as mentioned your local council will be well placed to advise.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017
Quit day job to run 3 businesses 08/02/2017
Started third business 25/06/2016
Son born 13/09/2015
Started a second business 03/08/2013
Officially the owner of my own business since 13/01/20120 -
I'd also want to be sure public liability and maybe professional indemnity were in place.0
