hello, as title says my dd wants to have a sleepover with 5 friends for her birthday. Money is tight but want her to have a lovely time. Have thought about a little bit of pampering ie nail polish, but they are at that inbetween stage not quite teens but not babies anymore. Ideas would be welcome.
Thanks in advance

What about doing a goodie box ?
As in facemasks which are all under a £1 in the pound shop or even boots , Popcorn which is about a £1 in Tesco . Nail vanish is good and there are nail stickers which I know teens love which again can be found poundland but look like they are from claires . Maybe suggest each girl brings a dvd and they have 5 choices to choose from as I remember being that age we just used to watch the same stuff over and over0 -

How about them making homemade pizzas and making/decorating cupcakes for pudding?0

What I would also say is don't try and completely fill the evening as again I remember even when DVD's were on all us girls would do was talk until the sun rise lol
Are they into any films or tv series like vampire diaries or twilight as there are loads of print of quizzes online ?
One thing one of my mates did was around our 12th birthday they got a scrap book and we would fill this with pics from not only that sleep over but for the next years worth and also write in there too . When we have catch up nights the book still comes out and it always makes us laugh as the fashion we had was awful and that was 10 years ago ! With smart phones these days they can print off in boots or Tesco etc and add what they want0 -
OP, have you asked your child what they would like to do?
And I wouldn't call 12 year olds "not babies anymore" - They are 12 years old...that just creeps me out so much.
The majority of 12 year olds who I mentor like chocolate, one direction, hello kitty and bling.0 -
Why not ask if they would like a "Themed" sleepover.
As in a onsie night.
So everything they do is in their onsies.
My daughter 25 and her friends arranged a onsie night.
Painted nails, watched dvd's with don-nuts and pop corn played games just had fun.
Your never to old to have a onsie sleepover.0 -
We quite often had sleepovers for birthdays, mostly we just stayed up all night talking!
We made our own pizzas which were easy to do and you can have a selection on toppings to add, or had party food like cocktail sausages, sausage rolls, crisps etc.
Theres a field very close to our house so we went there to play rounders for a couple of hours during the afternoon, or stayed at home and played on the eye toy.
One year I wanted to play all the games from childhood parties like pass the parcel, chocolate game, pin the tail on the donkey, musical bumps etc, we had loads of fun doing that, but this was my 16th and at 12 I probably wouldn't think it was cool!
We would always watch a scary film in the evening, not too scary though! and snack on crisps and sweets, not usually going to sleep until about 4-5 in the morning!
Most of the time we didn't really plan anything, we just did what we felt like.0 -

Sorry but they are not, (I am thinking small kiddie parties) I have asked and she does not want any kiddy party games ie pass the parcel, musical statues!! I agree with the rest though, might get a pinyata for them, she has said she wants a onesie themed evening though.0 -

Wow good idea, have got her a phone for her birthday so a good idea, she loves drawing and writing I think she was a scribe in a previous life.!!0 -
Just a small word of advice.
My daughter wanted to have those glow necklace /bracelet things at one of her birthday sleepovers.
I ended up at casualty at 2.00am. When the girls were swinging them around one of them broke and one of the girls got some of it in her eye. I had no idea that they contain glass. She was fine, thankfully, but I have never bought them since.0
