Whole thing twice a week
Bleach down pan every night
Sterilising tablet down pan once a week
( you should try the sterilising tablet, it cleans all the hard to get to bits with no effort )0 -
Bleach down a couple of times a week, Harpic tabs every couple of weeks for the limescale, and a good scrub once a week. One of our cats has taught herself to piddle in it as well, which is fine but she won't flush.
Consider yourself lucky, my cats treat it as their 3rd water bowl (they have their water, the dogs water and the toilet water) so I can't use any chemicals that linger / rim blocks and definitely no bleach.
Yes, I have tried keeping the door shut - they can open it and keeping the seat down - they lift it up and then I come home to a very angry cat struggling to clamber out of the loo0 -
Ok maybe I'm being a bit hard on myself. I clean the seat / rim as required and bleach and scrub weekly. I know people who have the bleach out 2-3 times a day... I'd never get anything done!0

I'm laissez faire but the toilet never smells. I wipe the seat and rim about weekly and put Harpic round the bowl about every month to clean off limescale and germs. 2 clean adults in our household.
Once a month for a proper clean:eek:
I do a full clean once a week - 1 adult.
I keep bleach wipes in the cupboard beside the loo for midweek wiping.
I use bleach tabs or blue loos in the cistern.0 -
Ha ha! Lots of OCD going on on this thread! I'm like Tizerbelle - I have dogs who much prefer to drink out of the toilet so I'm minimalist about my use of chemicals. It makes me wonder what's in my tap water that they think the toilet water is so much nicer!February GC 173/200

We use those Toilet Duck discs that stick to the side of toilet, and I give it a squirt of toilet duck/bleach/limescale remover (whichever comes to hand first) under the rim about twice a week.
Once a week I roll up my sleeves and give it a thorough scrubbing (under-the-rim-followed-by-hand-down-the-bowl-and-up-the-U-bend as far as I can reach) with a mixture of bleach and cream cleaner, then one final squirt of limescale remover for good luck.
I do the toilet seat, cistern, handle and floor properly once a week too, with maybe a mid-week wipe over with an anti-bacterial wipe or a piece of toilet paper squirted with Dettox.Save £12k in 2014 - No. 153 - £1900/£9000
