Hi, ive started an online sewing course so i can learn to sew from scratch.i know the basics but want to know everything so i can do it properly. the course is teaching me how to make a pattern which requires me to buy a lot of equipment for pattern making with an array of strange rulers. to buy all these would cost me alot of money
so im wondering if anyone can lend some advice or know any online sites that sell sewing equipment at a reasonable price?

Are you paying for the online sewing course? That sounds ideal for me.
I got a sewing machine from freecycle about 4 years ago and have only used it a few times for things like curtains. I need to learn the basics but would prefer to do it at homeThe world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0 -
just a reminder that episode 2 is on tonight. don't know if it's just me but i'm sure it doesn't get same level of promotion that the BBC gives Bake Off.'there goes an old transexual, last seen heading south,
her friends call her Bernie but her real name is Ralph'

There's also a book to accompany the new series, it's called 'The Great British Sewing Bee: Sew Your Own Wardrobe' . It includes a package wrapped in with the book which has full size patterns for garments to make. I saw it in WHSmith and I think it was £12.50. Sadly it was all shrink-wrapped and so not able to have a look inside, nor does it say on the cover what garments they are.0

I think this was from the first series, but it looks like you can have downloadable patterns emailed to you. Only thing would be printing them out maybe?

This is a new book. The book for the 1st series was called The great British sewing bee, and that is currently £7.99 in WHSmith.0

Hi, yes its online course for a year through a website called style design college online. you just have to have all the equipment and access to a scanner to send them assignments to mark. i got a deal through groupon. was £69 for the year. original price was 600 and something. gives me the structure i need to learn it all in my spare time :j0 -
I didn't watch the first series and wasn't going to watch this one either. However, fast for something to watch whilst having my lunch, I decided to watch the second episode on catch-up. It reeled me in and now I am hooked!! So much so I am already thinking of a trip to the fent stall on my local market!
Out of necessity I made all the children's clothes when they were young and even made some bridesmaids dresses for relatives. I also made most of my own clothes, curtains and cushions. However, eventually circumstances improved slightly, and the need to be attached permanently to my sewing machine was no more! My trusty machine was relegated to the under stair cupboard and left to gather dust. I think I have all but forgotten everything I knew but I am really tempted to have another go."If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
a reminder it's episode 3 tonight. they have to turn a t-shirt into something completely different, i like those sort of challenges, maybe because it seems like something i could actually manage to do!'there goes an old transexual, last seen heading south,
