Is it worth it? (RBS Loanguard PPI)

I really don't know if I've got a valid claim or not having read some of the threads on here relating to RBS/Direct Line Loanguard.
I'm pretty sure the Bank said we had to take it out (Nov 2000) but it wasn't a 'condition' of the mortgage or part of the mortgage offer (we only had an 80% mortgage at the time so no conditions for 100% mortgage or anything)
The policy was in joint names but I wasn't working at the time (I didn't work from 1998 - 2007).
We paid the policy from Nov 2000 (when we moved house) up until May 2011 when I split up with my husband. (we even increased the cover when we took out an further mortgage in 2004).
I don't even have the account number for the policy, but given that we took out the policy in joint names when I wasn't even employed, do you think we might have a valid claim?
(I realise that the only was to find out is to try, which I will do, but I'd just like to know what all you knowledgeable people think my chances are).
Thanks in advance,
Claire

Can you prove it?The policy was in joint names but I wasn't working at the time (I didn't work from 1998 - 2007).
It may have been in joint names but what was the benefit split? I have seen many plans with both parties named but the benefit split 100%/0%.I'd just like to know what all you knowledgeable people think my chances are
Each case is reviewed on its merits. However, MPPI has fewer issues than loan and credit card PPI and most complaints on MPPI get rejected by both firm and the FOS.
In your case, the verbal allegation is likely unprovable and an easy rejection on that point. If you were covered and not working then that is a stronger complaint reason.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. I don't have the paperwork anymore (I've since divorced and moved house) but I think it was 50/50 - will RBS/Direct Line be able to clarify that before I start the claim process?0
