For people that drink vegetable juices what combinations do you like?
Had my first ever vegetable juice today. Apart from beetroot I don't eat many vegetables.
I didnt like the ones on the menu and was told I could choose what I wanted so I chose spinach, broccoli, celery, ginger and cucumber. I didnt add beetroot as i already eat it a lot. I realised afterwards lime was an option. There was no kale option.
Also any recommendations for vegetable juice places in London?

I don't but I may start doing so as part of the 5 a day (if they count) and are not loaded with sugar.0

This is the problem, many veg juices use Apple as a base to make them palatable, or add lemon or lime juice etc. Adding fruit juice is, essentially, adding sugar and natural favouring.
In this case it's ok with a meal or as an occasional treat but no ore than this as it will be packed with sugar and acid.0 -
Carrots,peas,sweet corn,onions all contain sugar which is fine in the whole veg but liquidised liberates sugar which causes tooth decay. About one to two teaspoons per serving of vegetable.0

I just had a look at V8 veg juice , was going to get some, however now looking at the web site, I notice they offer a low sodium one, which suggests the regular one is 'high' in salt or drinking regularly can cause other problems than it solves

Until recently guidance was juiced fruit/vegetables no matter how much consumed counted only as one of the five a day. More recent guidance is moving away even from this and back towards the whole fruit/juice.0 -
I'm happy to have them without lemon or lime. Or carrots, peas, sweet corn and onions.
I did a custom blend today as all the listed ones had fruit and vegetables and I wanted only vegetables.
They serve them with a straw too, does that help with tooth decay?0 -
Carrot is useful for sweetening if you want to avoid fruit. I wouldn't personally recommend you do that however.
Buy a juicer and play around with your own combinations.
I find carrot, apple and beef root to taste like pomegranate weirdly. Lettuce can be a little metallic (only word I can think of), all the root veg, dark leafy veg, all good. Corn can be funny at times to juice as it sort of goes creamy.
Have you tried adding ginger or turmeric?
Take a look on youtube for jay kordich or Jason vale for ideas.

A portion of carrots, juiced, has two spoons of sugar, so there's no point substituting for fruit.
All these drinks are fine with , or as , a meal or as a treat but not as regular drinks during the day . As once liquidised basically most end up as sugar with natural flavourings. Also the health benefits are from eating the whole fruit or vegetable. Juiced counts as no more than one portion of your five a day no matter how many fruits or vegetables used.0 -

Carrots are nothing magic - but being a vegetable, their inclusion in a balanced diet is to be recommended.
Wizzing them up into a juice does nothing to turn them into a magic potion, and as Brook has correctly said, it pulverizes the sugar out of them and turns them from something that do no harm to the teeth, into something that causes the same sort of sugar attack as a can of pop.
Veg juices are certainly very trendy at the moment. They are not as 'healthy' as they are painted though (Funnily enough by the makers of the juicers and the writers of the books that go with them!), and need to be treated with a little caution.How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
Also, there's a difference between a juice and a smoothie - juicing removes a lot of the fibre etc. found in the whole fruit.
