End of DLA & moving on to PIP

Hi,
Sorry if this has already been asked.
My award for DLA low care & high mobility ends 23/03/14.
DWP sent me an application for PIP, which I completed & returned in December 2013. My condition has worsened & I need more help.
I think DLA is paid in arrears so my last payment will be 8/04/14
I am having the face to face on 25th February with Capita.
If DWP have not made a decision on my claim for PIP by 8/04/14 will my money just stop completely?

  • if a decision has not been made before it runs out then yes it will stop on the date that it was awarded until

You can chase them up, if you haven't heard soon, although there are huge delays, in some areas.

    Lin :(
You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset. ;)

I thought that, as long as the PIP forms were returned on time, DLA would continue to be paid until a PIP decision is made?
  • I recieved a DLA letter yesterday about the general increase and there was info about pip with it and it does say that if your award for DLA is up for renewal and you are sent pip forms to fill out then your DLA will continue as normal until a pip decision has been made

Many Thanks for all your replies.:T
I sent the form back in time & phoned about the face 2 face same day letter received so there is no delay from me.
I will keep my fingers crossed & let you know what happens.
  • Your DLA should continue to be paid until your PIP decision is made, even if that means DWP have to extend your DLA award. The only requirement is that you do everything asked of you when requested.

Did you not get a PIP 0202 letter at the beginning of the DLA to PIP process making it clear that your DLA would continue until the PIP decision is made? As a newbie here, I can't post links, but if you want to see an example, Google for "PIP toolkit" and read down to "Reassessment" about half way down the page where you will find a link.

    :T Many Thanks Mr Lawnmower.
I have found the letter & re-read it slowly. (I have a habit of reading things too quick so I miss most of the important bits!)
You are right it does say that DLA will continue until they make a decision.
So all I can do is wait with my fingers crossed.
