Working Tax Credit Question

Hi,

I've recently lost my job (dismissal) and now were relying solely on my OH wage which is around £11k a year to pay for everything...I did earn a very good wage (£34k) until I lost my job...

Would OH be able to claim WTC?

  • If 2012/13 tax year and 2013/14 joint gross income is above £18k for each tax year, then no. If from 06-04-2014 onward for tax year 2014/15 joint income is likely to be under £18k then possibly. Any other taxable income, such as contribution based benefits, pensions being paid to either of you, work benefits (cars, vouchers, mileage etc) can all have an impact on entitlement.

How many hours does OH work? How old are you? Any kids? Any disabilities?
  • He works 12 hour shifts...36 hours on average. No kids. I suffer from depression.
  • No he's older...I think he earns on average about £6.30 an hour...he walk out with about £850 a month on average
