Cash offer from overseas buyer

First timer so be gentle with me...

My flat has been on the market approx 1 week, the 2nd offer from a cash buyer is still short of being acceptable but I'm sure there's more to come. My question is how sure can I or my EA be of them genuinely having the funds to proceed given that the prospective buyer is in another country? What checks should I ask for to give me confidence? I'm not worried but would like to know the next page of the script as it were before I turn the page. ANy links to relevant web-sites much appreciated.

I think it would be in order to ask to see a bank statement and official letter from a recognised bank to afirm they do have the funds.

A friend who returned from living in the States a couple of years back had to provide proof from his bank, still in America, to confirm he had funds for deposit & 6 months rent in advance for property he was going to rent.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
  • Thanks Cattie, assuming we agree a price I'll ask for that. I'd like to think they're serious. I've read other threads on here of supposedly cash buyers that actually weren't.

    yEP, thats the key.

Any EA worth thier salt need to see "proof of cash" from any buyer. this can be a letter from thier accountant on headed paper ( can be attached as PDF via email to your EA) or hard copy or proof of cash funds from a bank.

No "cash" offer is ever truly acceptable without proof of cash.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
