PPI..Is it worth asking?

Untill 2007 I had a mortgage with my ex-husband,due to our marriage breakdown the property was repossessed,and sold,our mortgage had PPI Can I make a claim to see if I am entitled to a refund?

    You are not entitled to a refund. That isnt how it works. You would be making a formal complaint about the person that sold you the policy giving reasons why you think they did wrong. Most MPPI complaints are rejected and fail at the FOS. So, you need to have good reasons for complaint.

    The complaint would need to be made by both you and your ex-husband (and a successful complaint would see the money shared between you).

    Who sold the MPPI? (a broker, adviser or the lender)
    When did you purchase it? (important as most broker/advisers were not regulated until January 2005 and dont have to consider pre 2005 sales complaints)

    It might be worth noting. If there was a shortfall when the house was repossesed then if the PPI was with the mortgage lender then any refund will go to this shortfall.
