Barclaycard Initial

I called up to cancel my Barclaycard Initial as I have been given a Gold MasterCard from my bank.
I was passed through to the cancellation department and the guy said he was going to upgrade my account to a freedom rewards card with no credit check etc.
Has anyone else had this?

It's quite normal."You know when it's cold outside when you go outside and it's cold"0 -
I'm going to give that a go soon, I have a £1,750 limit with Barclaycard at 29.99% with a £600 balance on 0%.
Does the card have to be at £0 when you call to cancel or can you call to cancel (or threaten to cancel) while balance is owed?0 -
Mine is zero balance that's why I tried it so if it backfired then I would have just closed it. However if you have been with BC a while and your payments are always on time etc then I would call them and complain about the interest rates etc and see what they offer I got an 8% discount on my rate while I had a balance on it so it was 21.9% instead of the 29.90%Tremour-88 wrote: »I'm going to give that a go soon, I have a £1,750 limit with Barclaycard at 29.99% with a £600 balance on 0%.
