Thank you all.
We've had confirmation from BA that we can fly with driving license and booked the flight and hotel for next week.
We actually found BA cheaper then easyjet and the BA site was cheaper then expedia and lastminute.com (booked hotel through them too )- was quite suprised by this.
So now I've just got to get my friend on the plane!0 -

Article IV of the Act of Union prevents this - And it still has primacy over subsequent legislation like the Identity Act (which only considers passports as one of a range of suitable ID) and mere commercial self-interest.
So who is going to take Ryanair to court over this?
And I think Ryanair don't actually insist on a passport - but an official national identity card. Which our government decided we don't want.0
