'Soft' mascara

Can any one help?
I have ocular rosacea and have been finding my mascara uncomfortable lately. A friend recommended trying maybelline megaplush. Well, I had to pop in to boots yesterday for some prescriptions and thought I'd pick some up but they were out of stock.
Reading online reviews its very mixed.
I don't mind paying more for a good mascara but not sure what's to google for to see what's available. Does any one else, maybe contact wearers? , wear a 'soft' mascara and which one, or is mega plush really the only one. Are there any higher end equivalents? My boots only has a few counters, Clinique, Est!e Lauder and both looked at me when I was barking, even when I refered to the product on the market that has a formulation not to dry too 'crisp'.. I have a mixture of mascaras from space nk, middle of the road and 'cheap' but I really am finding they all go a bit 'tight' as they dry.

I'm a contact lens wearer and have sensitive/allergic skin - i only use eye makeup from clinique because anything else causes too much irritation (red, puffy weeping eyes - I'm better off without any make-up!). I don't find their mascaras go 'crispy'.
If you're really struggling to find a mascara have you considered having your lashes tinted?Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0 -

Yes, I am confident and happy to dye my lashes at home. But I am missing the oomph of mascara
.
I cannot remember using Clinique mascara ever. Thank you for the recommendation.0 -
I once reacted with a rimmel mascara so used to stick to No7 or the body shop but recently changed all my make up to bare minerals and my skin is so much better why not pop into local counter and ask them to apply mascara to see how you get on, I really like their flawless definition mascara0

No local counter, so would have to buy unseen. That's pretty much my risk with anything.
The particular appeal of the 'soft' thing is the hype that maybelline are saying its more comfortable....:o0 -

Oh, I 'm grateful for the recommendation, I don't mean to suggest I wasn't!
I'm after recommendations exactly!
Its just I'm unlikely to be able to try before I buy!0 -
A friend of mine with very sensitive skin (slightly different I know) was once recommended the Natural Collection and 17 ranges in Boots (by the no 7 lady, no less!) because they're actually formulated for teenage skins which are more sensitive to chemicals etc. They could be worth a go? I think the NC one is only around £2?0

No it's ok I knew you were grateful 😃
If you've got a boots store nearby see if they can test on you before
Sensitive skin is a nightmare!!0 -

FWIW I got the megaplush (green bottle with pink writing?) mascara a few weeks ago and have only used it twice so far. I am not a great mascara user anyway but the gel concept sounded good as I hate the flaking, hardening, discomfort etc on eyelashes with regular mascaras plus the absolute palaver of taking them off. The megaplush doesn't flake or harden on the eyelashes but it is also quite discreet - it doesn't give much volumising or lengthening effect. Or I may not be applying too much of it anyway...0
