Getting frustrated!

I dont seem to be getting anywhere with my debts at all. I 'm bringing money in and it evaporates almost immediately. I'm getting wound up with everything and I'm fed up. Whenever I have any extra cash and I think what debt it can go towards, something urgent comes up that needs to be paid for. Unexpected prescriptions was the last thing. I'm just so frustrated. My budgets never seem to work out either.
My flats a mess and I can't be bothered to to anything about it. My paperwork is piling up and I don't know where anything is! I'm so busy at the moment I can never find the time to tidy! Its like shoveling snow when its still snowing!

Sorry, I just reread all of that and I sound like a complete whingebag! :o Just need to vent a bit.

No you don't sound like a whingebag you sound like someone who has got a lot on and is not superhuman just a human being who is finding it tough at the moment. I know what you mean about not having time to clean etc but you know what they say tidy home tidy mind or something like that well I believe in it. So while you haven't got time thats fine don't beat yourself up about it but don't let it get any worse. Every time you move from a room take something with you (just one thing) that needs to not be in there and put it in its right place. That way you are not taking any time out to do it just doing it while you are on the move anyway. Small steps are the only way if you really have not got the time. Or have you heard of fly lady? I don't use it but many on here use that system and its something like just doing something for 15 mins then stopping and doing this reguraly helps to keep everything in order or something like and surely you have 15 mins somewhere in your day? Sometimes when things get bad I think we areof the mindset that it is that bad we can only do it if we have a full spare free day. So do small steps and see things coming together slowly rather than staying the same which is obviously making you unhappy.
As for the money side of things have you posted a SOA?
  • I am on a bit of a downer at the moment too!!

My money is non-existent, no sooner is it in my hand it's gone, with nothing to show for it.......
My house is a pig-sty, I can't move for piles of c^%$ everywhere......
I'm falling behind with my OU degree, and feel like giving up.......
My kids don't follow instructions, which means we just turned up late to something my daughter should have been involved in, which meant she had to stand at the side watching everyone else do it, which meant I just wasted a bloomin 15 mile car journey........
I feel like I'm either going to scream or cry, although tears are welling as I write this so it may end up being both.......
The shovelling snow thing is a good analogy, I just feel like I'm going under....

    We can be whingebags together!!

The thing is that the more you stop getting one thing in control, the more everything will feel more out of control. They feed on each other. So over the weekend make it your mission to sort out all of the paperwork. But not neatly, just piles of letters from each company you are dealing with. If nothing else you will then have a nice pile of envelopes and flyers to put in the recycling, so the piles won't seem so big. At the same time the house/flat will be a bit tidier so that you will feel more in control too.

Then once that is done, just take one now smaller pile at a time. It will feel like you are more in control and more organised.

I def found that sorting out our paper work really helped. It meant I knew where everything was and stopping missing payments etc. That was why I joined the flylady thread and it's really helped. I'll never be loaded and i'll never have a spotless house but it helps xx

My new way of doing it is as soon as the post comes sort it out file/shred/recycle it then the pile doesn't get any bigger.I also take one thing out of the room when I'm going and put it in it's proper place. It soon clears it.My paperwork I sorted one pile at a time and it worked.I just have to get around to doing the accounts now...lol...
You will get there in the end there are plenty of us here with the same problems.

If you have the TV on - when the adverts come on, you have about 2 mins to tidy before the programme comes back on.

While the kettle is boiling for a cuppa, use that time to put away/clean as much as you can in the kitchen - it will only be a minute or so but it is amazing what you can do!

And the paperwork, well just do one or two bits at a time. You will get there.

Many of us (def me included) feel like this - swimming through jelly is how I describe it, but small steps are needed. We are nothing more than normal!

I think you just get tired of it all from time to time. Instead of trying to sort the car out, the first thing I did was sit down and cry my eyes out. The housework seems unending and the debt is stuck. Still the light is flickering at the end of the tunel, it won't be like this forever it just feels like it at times.

I can totally sympathise, I have felt like this often for some time since we began to really tackle the debt. It feels like wading through treacle most days. Some days, I just get so angry with myself for getting into this situation and then get even more angry coz of the effect it will have on DS for some time to come. I keep trying to stay positive but some days I just cant be bothered and think whats the point, but we have to keep going and keep reminding ourselves that we will get there.

Just want to say thanks to everyone who replied to my rant! I'm feeling a bit better now, though a bit concerned about the red council tax bill that I just found.. . Going to have to give them a call I think.

I've got a nice new folder for my paperwork (tesco value - hurrah!) and I'm going to go on a search and gather around the flat. We're moving soon so I'm going to take advantage and get rid of a load of stuff as I pack. I aspire to be clutter free almost as much as I aspire to be debt free. I have to fight my pack-rat demons!

Thanks again for taking the time to read and reply!!!!!
  • I can totally sympathise with you Kat.
I've just had to take a weeks leave from work just to get on top of everything, like you paperworks a mess, house a mess, lifes a mess.
Tomorrow everthing will be different and i'll be on top again..i hope.
    good luck!
