Credit Score - Default

Hi Guys


Just checked my credit report on Equifax and its showing I have 1 default on my Bank account. I had outstanding balance which I have paid through a debt agency, last payment was couple of years ago. I have since closed the account and don't have any information. Also don't have the reference from debt agency to show I have paid. This default is the one thing keeping my credit score low. How can I fix this issue, please if anyone can help.

Is an actual default, or a late payment mark? Either way you can go back over your payment history and make absolutely sure you deserved the mark.. was it actually the banks fault (i.e. being caused purely through charges they levied on you?). Even if the mark is correct, and you were in fact late paying, you may still have a chance if you speak to the bank, explain your side of things, and ask if they will remove the mark as a goodwill gesture.

I did this with my bank last week and they did. So did BT for another mark I had. Both were not my fault though.

account still not showing as settled and shows I owe them money "£50" which is paid. Since 2009/10 its showing I have been missing this one payment. I'll give them a call and see what they say.
