Hi
Just wondered if anyone can help?
My ford fiesta is due for it's first service, i've called Dagenham Motors and have been quote £195, being naive i wasn't quite expecting this price tag. Does anyone have any other recommendations? I'm in West London if that helps.
All help appreciated, many thanks.

Yep that is about right for your area, its around the 150ish mark in the midlands..Have you thought of An Other garage, as long as genuine parts are used and service is carried out to fords schedule your warranty still stands.
If you do go down the Franchised dealer route they will probably try and stick you with a Service Plan with what looks like a great package..leave well alone0 -
Find a good independent garage that will use genuine parts (to maintain your warranty)
The first 12,500 mile service is simply an oil, oil filter and air filter change. Cost of parts shouldn't be anymore than £50 and less than an hours labour
If you really want to get the service done at a main dealer, ring around lots of local dealers as the pricing can vary dramatically from garage to garage
/edit - the parts prices are (assuming petrol engine but prices should be the same for diesel apart from maybe a difference in the oil price)
- Castrol Magnatec 5W30 (£21.58 - Eurocarparts)
- Genuine Ford Oil Filter - £3.79 (http://www.forddirectparts.co.uk)
- Genuine Ford Air Filter - £13.79 (http://www.forddirectparts.co.uk)
Plus an hours labour, so £195 seems steep.0 -
Beware of garages offering a £99 service. Which will be an oil change and little else.
Not upto the manufacturers warranty standards. Phone several dealers and play them off each other. They may reduce the price.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Whilst getting an independant to use genuine parts to do the service might be OK in theory, it won't get you any banked goodwill from the maker or the dealer network in the event of a problem.
Whether that goodwill is worth anything is another question.0 -
Its a lot of money to change an oil and filter..Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

yes it is but if you leave it & the vehicle goes wrong & ford don't pay due to the vehicle not being serviced you would be even more gutted0 -
website wrote:The Ford Fiesta is the most popular car in the supermini class, and those who are not Ford fans admit it is a well designed car. The Fiesta has a service interval of 12,500 miles or 1 year whichever comes first. After calling 7 approved Ford garages the lowest quote for a small service was £149 while the highest was £220. The lowest quote for a major service was £189 and the highest was £359. Taking a look the servicing quotes you’ll realise there are great savings to be made if you shop around.

Worth ringing around. If you can get it for £150, then that would be fair enough.0 -

And if you are travelling elsewhere outside of London then planning a service around it could be a very good moneysaving plan if London dealers are generally more expensive.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
Thanks so much for your help, i'll have a ring around, thanks for the useful links.
Unfortunately i don't have a trip out of London planned, i do live in Berkshire, so will call dealers there too, West London is just more convenient for getting to work after dropping the car off!0 -
