Claims handler

In 2012 I went with a claim handler to see if I could get anything for my credit card. They came back saying the credit card company were not paying out. I went again but this time used the templates from this website went direct to the ombudsman and won a settlement. Now, 18months on, my claims handler are now expecting me to pay out on something they had no hand in winning. If anything they completely failed.

Anyone else had this? What are my rights and do I HAVE TO pay??? Seems so unfair!! Not heard anything from them after they said I had failed in my claim so thought that was it...!

Any help/guidance welcomed!! Feeling harassed....

Have you got it in writing from them that your complaint has failed? If so then you might have a chance. If not then unfortunately they are deemed to represent you until you terminate them in writing. Your story is not uncommon, all they ever do is send in a standard letter alleging all sorts then forget about you until/ unless an offer comes in. They never do any worthwhile work on your behalf and any provider upholding a complaint will usually do so after speaking to you directly or because of known sales flaws.

Unfortunately if you have a written contract the courts will not generally accept attempts to withdraw from it after an offer has been made. Whilst I don't doubt your story is genuine, there are plenty who obtain an offer and then decide to try and fleece the CMC.
