PPI / Late payment

Hi everyone,

I'm just about to start a PPI claim with MBNA but I incurred a late payment this month due to me getting dates wrong.

What (if any) impact will this have on my claim? Normally I've settled the account in full every month well ahead of the payment date.

My claim is from 1996 when I took applied for the card so it's difficult to remember the exact details. I'm guessing they will try and work this against you?

Cheers
James

If you have defaulted on payments, they can set off any redress against them.

First you have to have a successful complaint though.

When you pay the balance each month, you don't pay any ppi.

200 monthly statements or more! It would appear on any monthly statement that you didn't "pay in full" that month, did you not think to cancel it if you didn't want it? What's the reason for your mis-selling complaint? ( you make a complaint, not a claim)
The late payment won't affect a complaint.

One late payment fee (as long as you paid it) will have no bearing on a PPI complaint.

If you normally settled your account each month you'll have paid little (if any) PPI.
Note that you only get a refund of any amounts you paid, If you didn't pay any PPI you won't get any refund.

Every month there is a ppi charge as they moved the date it is calculated to a date before the statement arrives

If that is the case, then you clearly didn't settle your account each month as you claimed.
Regardless, you now need to ascertain on what basis to complain that you were mis-sold.

So if my statement date is the 8th and it then takes 7 - 10 days to arrive in the post and I then make a full payment of the balance then this isnt full payment. Problem is they calculate the PPI on the day after the statement day so as to always guarantee a PPI payment as there is no way possible to avoid it.

You could change your Direct Debit to pay it all off in full every month.
