Has anyone done this themselves and what did you use? A local carpet store charges £5 a metre!

Ring around, I would think that you would find somewhere cheaper.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
Our local rug company charges £1 a foot. Newcastle. You couldnt really do it yourself and get the same finish.0

I have used this carpet edging stuff - very pleased with the results:

Make sure you have plenty of glue sticks for your glue gun (which you will need). The edging tape has a sticky backed fabric band that sticks to the underside of the carpet (like fabric gaffer tape - very good adhesion) and you run hot glue down the edge of the carpet as you push the braided edge to carpet edge. Do it slowly and make sure your carpet edge is reasonably straight before you start. Practice on an off cut first and be prepared for hot glue finger! Not difficult once you get going and the result is very good.0 -

That stuff is £3.79 per metre. OP said a carpet shop would do it for £5 per metre. Think I know which I'd choose for the sake of a quid a metre.0 -
Sorry to piggy back the thread, but can anyone advise on how to stop a rug on top of a fitted carpet from creeping and puckering in "waves" , so to speak?0
