Colour Scheme - gold and ?

Options
I really need help with my colour scheme! I really suit gold / yellow tones and I am so lucky to have found a dress I love with a gold thread running over it.

However I think my fiancee will look washed out with just a champagne/ gold tie and waistcoat to match my dress, so I need another colour. But I am rubbish at this sort of thing. I am thinking perhaps a purple as my fiancee like this colour, but not sure if it will look garish agaist gold. So perhaps a green? Or maybe both?

  • Just wondering if your fiance has tried the suit on with gold tie etc?

My fiance and the guys are wearing that combo and it looks really lovely!! :-)
  • He's not tried it on but to match my dress the gold would be a pale gold /champagne colour, rather than a deep gold.

I think sage green and gold is a gorgeous combination - try looking on google images for 'sage gold and green wedding' for inspiration!
  • That's what my guys are having, it's not deep gold either. Worth trying anyway, you may be pleasantly surprised by the way it looks.
  • Purple and pale gold sounds like a lovely combination. Depending what time of the year the wedding is maybe you could go for a lighter purple/lilac?

My sister's colour scheme was chocolate brown, pale gold and pearls and it worked really nicely. However they got married in December and I'm not quite so sure if it would work so well for a summer wedding, but that might just be me!

Red goes really well with gold.

I think a lovely deep burgundy would look with the gold, but like others said, give it a go without first. I think the purple would also work if it's quite deep and plummy (dependent on the shade of the gold).

  • Thanks so much for the ideas!

I dont generally wear red and neitther does OH but now its been mentioned I can see that it would go well with gold.

I think we need to get down to a men's clothing/ suit store to see what colours would suit him, and what he likes.

We are thinking of having lavender as our table decorations, so a pale purple might fit in really well.
  • I second burgundy. When is your wedding?
