Anybody got a link to more info on solar edge ?
Have a look at this youtube video pt1 (pts 2 and 3 will follow at the end), very good explanation, and they are the biggest players in the power optimiser business. It does what it says it will.

I'd ask the original installer to quote you on the 300w Lg's with solaredge, 4 panels going down with shade is still too much in my opinion and that's 4 panels for a few hours with the looks of your photo.2 kWp SEbE , 2kWp SSW & 2.5kWp NWbW.....in sunny North Derbyshire17.7kWh Givenergy battery added(for the power hungry kids)0

What I was actually looking for, is some 2m by 1m panels, which could fit portrait 6 by 2, but cover a bit more roofspace. I'm sure there are a few, but coming up blank at the moment.
In fact, given that the Aurora Power One 3.6 inverter is dual MPPT (I think), then the original quote from post #1 is looking pretty good.
Mart.
I think there are some but they tend to be used for commercial projects (solar farms). For example there is the Sunpower E20 435W panel which is like a stretched version of the E20 327W. Same width (1046mm) but longer (2067mm rather than 1559mm).
There are some sellers on Ebay offering the equivalent 327W Benq systems for quite a bit less, I cannot vouch for them or say whether the price they list is what you'd actually pay, but it may be worth a look if you can only fit in 12 panels.
What about the chimney or vent? Could it perhaps be lowered or modified with a swan neck or something like that to get it behind the ridge, if that would reduce or remove shading?

just had an update from the first quote, £6750 for solaredge optimisers 12 lg 300w panels. Just wondering whether its worth the extra outlay or seeing whether the chimney could be moved slightly or would the 2 strings on the inverter be good enough.3.64KW system, aurora power one inverter, South west facing with no shading in Lancashire.0

It would be a lot easier and cheaper if you could angle the chimney over to the other side of the roof, does the chimney go all the way down or come out in an upstairs wall?
I'm guessing the price is as it is is because of the 300w panels, could they not do you BenQ's at the same money and make it a 3.92kWp system? That would be a good deal if you could pull it off2 kWp SEbE , 2kWp SSW & 2.5kWp NWbW.....in sunny North Derbyshire17.7kWh Givenergy battery added(for the power hungry kids)0 -
the chimney comes out abput 6 foot from the ground. iam going to enquire about moving it but they are not meant to bend3.64KW system, aurora power one inverter, South west facing with no shading in Lancashire.0

Whats it for?
If it can't be moved can it be shortened to just above roof level thus minimising any shading to the darkest winter months. Move the panels as far away from the edge and away you go. its for a gas fire. it does stick up quite high but the regs say it must clear 60 cms3.64KW system, aurora power one inverter, South west facing with no shading in Lancashire.0

If its for gas then surely you could angle it at 30deg to the other side of the roof and keep your height. I'm no gasman but there's def plenty of angled flues around.
Have a word with a gas safe installer and get their thoughts. Once your shading is sorted then you can get back to haggling your 300/327w panels with a standard inverter instead. I'd image the price difference would be greater than the cost of changing the flue.2 kWp SEbE , 2kWp SSW & 2.5kWp NWbW.....in sunny North Derbyshire17.7kWh Givenergy battery added(for the power hungry kids)0 -
