Is it my age??

Options
I love comping but I've decided I'm getting very fussy about what competitions I enter. I hate rafflecopter so I don't do them, I don't have children so family comps are out, I avoid sharing on facebook and the daily mags annoy me. I hardly ever use make up, I don't have a Blue ray player and while I love shoes few would fit my E wide feet! I really must not eat any more chocolate or cheese for that matter and do I really need any more kitchen equipment? I seem to be entering fewer and fewer competitions, is it my age or do I have comping fatigue? Does anyone else feel like this.
Alice came to a fork in the road. "Which road do I take?" she asked. "Where do you want to go?" responded the Cheshire cat. "I don't know," Alice answered. "Then," said the cat, "it doesn't matter."

I think it is to do with age - although I enter for friends & family (especially the grandchildren) I don't enter many for me. I know what you mean about wide feet & I have arthritis of the hip so high heels are out too.

I recognise so many of those reasons you list Joan49.

My 'G' width fitting shoe issue is a real pain- and expensive.

But I have to say the other day I went through nearly 30 pages and I entered less than 10.

There are more rafflecopters, and I just don't have the time to do them. Holidays are out, clothes and shoes are not my size range, don't like sport, fishing, horse riding, and so on.

Hope for more variety in the summer...
  • That pretty much describes my attitude to comping. The only difference being the shoes and the blu ray player.

I don't have facebook, twitter or instagram accounts, so I can skip those.

I also avoid the DVD/Blu Ray competitions, as they don't interest me.
    Life's what you make it....

"I've got one, two, three, [STRIKE]four[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]five[/STRIKE]... senses working overtime..", XTC.

Life beyond voluntary work scares me, but what else is there?
  • Hey,

I don't think it's necessarily down to age, i'm 29 and i hate rafflecopters, have no blu ray, avoid effort/voting/game competitions like the plague and don't enter for chocolate/ sweet prizes as am on a diet. Granted i haven't truly comped in a while as i haven't had the time. But recently when i started again there are definitely more crosses than ticks but at least when you win it will definitely be something you really want :T
Starting afresh - comping as much as poss!

Hoping for: some beauty goods, clothes, amazon vouchers, anime, manga, wardrobe, fridge freezer, laptop, an ipad, vouchers for next, exercise goods, a uk break and a wee hol somewhere nice!
    Wishing all a little luck:beer:

Thanks everyone, glad to see it's not just me. Think I will take a leaf out of fire**fly's book and enter some I can donate to charity. Now all I need to do is sort out my pesky computer which for some reason keeps losing my sign ins as soon as I go to another page grrr!!!!!!

Tbh it's probably more sensible, there's no point filling your house with tat you don't want. It's so time consuming anyway I prefer to concentrate on things I really want.

Nothing to do with age, you have just reached the next stage of comping. You are now a serious comper!

I reckon you sound like me and so therefore you only enter comps you truly want to win. The way I look at it is, yes you are reducing your chances of winning but .........1. you reduce the chance of winning tat you really don't want and the disappointment when it turns up in the post and you then question, why did I even enter to win this AND 2. When you do win, the prize is worth having oh and for me another thing.........if I get a missed delivery card, I always get my hopes up as it will always be something I wanted - In the past when I used to enter anything and everything I'd get excited when I got a missed delivery and then when I collected my mystery parcel I'd think oh! really? Did I really enter to win that - I think I used to get carried away with comping lol

I can honestly say I've never won any 'tat' :D:j
& everyone of my many wins are always gone in days :j
    I don't sell them, I don't 'hoard' them,
the one's I can't use for friends/family etc are always welcomed,
especially by the animal charities/organisers of
    charities/raffles/etc :j
& it's a lovely, fuzzy warm feeling to be able to donate/give/help to them which always leads to the feel good factor & karma :j

    eta..

& this is always a worthwhile one..

a good use for prizes you can't use
