+1 for an Indian grocer/supermarket if you can find one & haul the booty back without crippling yourself.

Failing that the ethnic aisles of supermarkets (& use MySupermarket to compare).

Costco are great for nuts but while you certainly get the volume they aren't necessarily cheap. (Lovely range of sacks of rice though.) Again, part of the challenge will be getting the supplies home.

    Best of luck!

Aldi and pound land both do good ranges of nuts. I personally can never find a decent price at approved foods.

Everything PPs have said pretty much!

Make sure you aren't buying for the sake of it or because you think you'll use it but don't really know if you'll like it. Xx

Depends on where you live of course. I live in an area with a high immigrant population. Little local ethnic stores are great, especially for rice which you can buy in massive bags the size of sacks of cement. Pulses too.

I'm also lucky to have two cash & carry's near me - Masalamart for Indian/Asian and See Woo for Chinese and SE Asian. You can bulk buy stuff in there at a very good price. And you'll also see stuff you'd never see anyway else, once again pretty cheaply priced. I think our ethnic shopping friends must be pretty canny shoppers and drive a hard bargain so the shops can't get away with charging too much!

"Quality Foods". A huge Asian Supermarket at the Feltham end of Hounslow High Street would be perfect.
I guess it will probably be a million to one that you live near there?
  • Hi
I try to avoid Tesco because our nearest store is a Tesco extra & 30 mins away. I find if I go in there I'm in for most the afternoon and buy more things than I need, not just food. Probably my own fault for lack of discipline !
I do most of my basic fruit & veg from Aldi or local market. I try to get most my meat from local butchers. I do try to support local high street if I can although not always possible.
