Morning lovely MSEr's!

I have a 53 plate Astra 1.6 & every now & then the Engine Management Light comes on, the speedo stops working & the ABD light comes on. . . it occasionally stalls, but was fine again this morning.

Does anyone have any ideas before I have to pay to have it looked at on the Electrical Brain thingy at the local garage please?

Cheers loads

  • It could be that the EGR valve is blocked and could do with a clean out.

I had a similar problem with my old W-reg Astra 1.6 and the Green Flag breakdown man cleaned it out and all was well afterwards.

More likely to be an ABS sensor or a corroded abs ring on the drive shaft

Does the rev counter stop working at the same time as when the speedo stops working?

Sounds like several faults. ABS/Speedo maybe linked if the pickup is from the wheelbearing/ABS sensor ring.

That wont be causing the engine to die though.
