London to Cardiff travel. How?

I have a dilemma......

I'm seeing my favourite band in the world (R.E.M.) in London at Hyde Park on Saturday 9th July.
I'm also seeing them the following day in Cardiff. Then I need to get home to Birmingham!

I need to somehow get from London to Cardiff by about 10:00 so that I can meet up with fellow fanatical fans in the queue.

I was wondering whether it would be better to travel overnight, or early the next day. Driving is my preferred option (I can't find any flights to Cardiff, and the National Express coaches don't leave until mid-morning).
I wondered if I should try and park near my hostel (the Astor Hyde Park Hostel), or if there's a railway station offering cheap/free parking where I could leave my car and get the tube into the city.

If anyone has any advice I'd be very grateful,
Ally
