In the recent storms last week we had no electric for 72 hours. Scottish Power have agreed to pay £10 per head per day for any hot food costs we incurred, but am I right in saying we can claim an additional £27 per day as compensation?

  • Their compensation terms will be in the normal terms and conditions, which they might have sent you if you get your bills by post, or you could look on their website to see what is available from them for an extended disconnection period.

You contact your DNO: the local operator, whose name is on every bill.

When they were doing new pipes down the road a couple of years ago i had no gas for over a day and i think i got about £35.
When one of the men came late at night looking for the pipe he offered me a free electric fan heater but by that time i was that cold i said i was just going to go to bed.
