stripping varnish off internal doors

Options
hi guys

we are thinking about stripping our internal doors (original panel doors). They have been stained/varnished a mahognay at the moment.

Hubby has took one down to a local dip and strip place, at £14 per door, but has been told they couldnt do them as them have been done previously (this guy uses a hot dip or something). He recommended another place which is 10 miles away but they are charging £35 per door (have 5 needing doing)

We also want our fire surround doing but he couldnt do that because it is glued and the hot stripper/water will melt the glue.

Now at that price we can get new doors.

If I was to strip them myself, baring in mind there isnt many coats of varnish on them, whats the best solution to use.

any help guys
