Jealous cat

Hi guys, I'm in need of any help/ advice you would be so kind as to pass on.
Background - I have two Persian cats, female 7yrs and male 15mths. Both spayed/neutered. Both house cats with access to the garden when the weather is good.
Brought the kitten into the house just under a year ago and all was well. My female is sooo sweet, calm, puts up with all the kitten antics he throws at her and does not bat an eyelid. Sometimes I wish she would turn and beat the !!!!!! out of him, maybe teach him a lesson??
Well, in the past couple of months things have gone downhill, the kitten stalks the female, and then 'jumps' her whenever he has the chance. They have had quite a serious scrap on one occasion - he ended up worse off and after a vets visit for antibiotics, so did I.
He is just so jealous of her. He hates it if I show her attention, I can see him sat looking at her, just waiting for her to move away from me, then he's after her again. It's now at the stage that I'm finding it hard to groom her - she doesn't want to spend time with me, as she knows whats coming if he notices. As she is a long-haired Persian, she needs a lot of grooming, and she loves it.
I have tried distraction, reward of good behavior and 'punishment' of bad behavior (water pistol - he loved it!). None of it has worked.
I'm at a total loss. I have had Persians for years, he is the only one who has acted in this manner I really don't know what to do next.
Does anyone have any advice??

Trim his claws so he is less likely to jump her (cos she won't feel much through her fur when he does)?0

I'd second Feliway both upstairs and down - shop around for the best prices - along with Zylkene. You can buy from the vet but also online without prescription. A number of people have said it's really helped calm these sorts of situations.0

Thanks for the advice guys - now have three Feliway plug-ins in the house.
Also, after advice from a rescue center and cattery owner, my little monster now has a brand new 'giant dog cage' as a home when I'm out. This will also be his bed at night time.
He will come out during the day for supervised social interaction! I'm sure it will take a while, but I'm happy to go with it. As the situation we had was not appropriate at all.
He's a strong willed little devil, so I expect the first couple of weeks will not be easy - but I'm also ginger, so he has met his match!Scrappie
