Welcome to the weekly Flylady thread. If you need help organising your week when it comes to housework, or just the motivation to do the dreaded housework tasks you have to do, come and join us, hopefully make it a little easier. You never know, you might start to enjoy it!

Thank you to Dusty for last week's thread

THESE LISTS ARE ONLY SUGGESTIONS AND NOT A MUST DO LIST, YOU ARE ALWAYS WELCOME TO POST AND FOLLOW YOUR OWN.

There are 3 levels per day deepening on how much time you have. Feel free to mix and match to suit your own personal circumstances.

A few of the basics before we start the week

Hotspots are any areas which if one thing gets put there, loads of other things follow!

Daily routines/todailies are anything you need to do today and every day stuff like laundry, swish and swipe kitchen and bathroom, ironing, making beds, vacuuming high traffic areas, making meals etc

Night-time routines are all things which make getting ready in the morning easier, preparing clothes for the next day, making lunches, swish & swipes of the kitchen and tidying the living room before you go to bed plus personals like shower/brush teeth etc.

Fling Boogie/binbag dance - stick on some loud music, grab a binbag and whizz around the house finding items that can go out with the rubbish, recycling, for charity shop, basically anything that will stop it cluttering your home.

Swish and swipe/S&S means have a quick wipe over an area such as a sink or toilet to prevent the build up of dirt. This is usually done on a daily basis
HHE/HHC/HHI Half Hour exercise/challenge/ironing ... run around for 30 minutes to the Benny Hill music frantically cleaning exercising or ironing.. other music may be used if you prefer!
5GC five minutes gardening.. make it lovely for your family and enjoy it!

Any more questions I bet are answered in the wonderful welcome guide which was produced by our much loved Toots

  • Hi everyone! I keep dipping in and out of the fly lady threads over the years but it's got to the point now where I think I need to definitely knuckle down and keep to it weekly. Have changed the bedding today so will just be focusing on decluttering and tidying the bedroom tomorrow evening when DF is out.

Thanks for the new list Natty. I'll say I'm in but HT muddies the water a bit.

A carpets have been washed this weekend. Anyone seen wearing shoes upstairs will be in trouble!
  • Hi everyone - I've been a member of MSE for yonks and 'dip-in' from time to time (16 month-old monster and working makes me feel like I've no time for this sort of thing, but I've decided to relax with the laptop of an evening more often to get my life sorted!). Anyway, I'd never seen this thread before, and I constantly feel out of control with the housework and it seems like it's a weekly huge stressful thing for me and the OH all day on a sunday when we would be much better having a nice day doing lovely things with our son, so I'm really really interested in this - I'd love to bash through more stuff in the week, and a plan like this looks brill! I'll be following and pinching some ideas - hopefully now that I've posted I'll get an alert when other people reply? It's been that long since I've joined in I can't remember!! Oven cleaning is firmly overdue and on my list for tomoz (I have Mon and Weds off), plus the bedroom stuff already listed. Hopefully. (Mind you, I've only got Mr Muscle oven cleaner, and nowhere locally to buy any Oven Pride. Hmm, maybe it can wait until I get some another day!). Anyway, thanks in advance for the motivation!

Many thanks for the list Natty. I'm in but won't be doing the extra missions as it's HT here so will be struggling to get the basics done!

  • Hi all

Thanks for the lists this week Natty

I'm in again this week. I've spent most of today sleeping so need to crack on with the painting after work.

    Have a great week all
