Feline Hyperesthesia?

our new cat has had a funny affliction since we got her. when we stroke her back it visibly ripples up and down the spine. ive noticed it happens a few times when she is sat alone and also happens on occassion on her hips.
could this be Feline Hyperesthesia?
shes recently started crying at night and will sometimes bolt from the room for no apparent reason. apparently theyre symptoms too.
if it is Feline Hyperesthesia i will be a little annoyed that the cat rescue had her for many months and havent noticed
i guess a trip to the vets is in order.
does the rippling cause discomfort? ive stopped stroking her back and am stroking her side instead

What did the vet have to say? I'd never heard of it and had to search for the info.0

There was an episode of My Cat from Hell about a cat with this condition - it looked awful . If you can find that episode online, it would be well worth watching as there were a load of relaxation techniques shown and it seemed to make a big difference to the cat's quality of life!
