What containers to grow spuds in?

I have bought some earlies and want to grow some now in containers as I've read they should be ready by Easter. What can I grow them in that wont cost lots? I've read that they can be grown in the compost bag itself but that will cost a fortune!

Thanks for any advice

I'm using empty compost bags, cost me about £2 in Tesco

I'm also going to use empty manure bags

I've seen spud bags in pound shops

If you end up using compost bags, make sure you turn them inside out, poke holes in the bottom and put something at the bottom to aid drainage :)

Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.

Potato leaves will get killed off by the frost. Do you have somewhere frost-free to move the containers to if the weather turns cold?

I'd put 4-6 inches of compost in your container, put in 3-5 sprouted spuds depending on its size, and when they've grown bit, add more soil to cover up most of the shoots, and then repeat. I use old compost bags for mine.
