What Would You Do? Car Insurance Dispute

Not strictly true. I can think of a number of ways it could happen - reversing at an angle being one of them.
If it was anything but a fairly square-on impact, the corner of the bumper would get there before the towbar, though. A foot-long indented scrape like that must have been caused by a fairly parallel impact.0 -
i dont know what people get in their heads.
take a few years ago i was coming home from work we got to just outside cardiff came to a set of lights with mulitple lanes, we were following a HGV and the car in the left hand lane was drifting towards it, needless to say we saw this car drive into the side of the HGV, the elderly gent got out, and started to shout and scream at the HGV driver saying he had merged into his lane and hit him eventhough the car half in half out of our lane!! the ordasiy of this old gent was next to nothing, we got out and explained we had seen what had happened and that we could confirm that you drove into the HGV driver, he started shouting that we werent even there when it happened stop lying we know the HGV driver this a crash for cash scam and everything else he could think of then he got his walking stick out the boot and proceeded to try and hit us with it shouting their attacking me their attacking me! HELP!.
then theres someone like my grandmother, instead of saying something straight away will ponder on it for weeks and weeks getitng no sleep at all to the point she stops eating makes herself ill then says something about whats worrying her and it maybe something trivial but she over thinks it into a massive problem.
why someone would wait weeks to mention it i dont know, youve probably seen them in passing a few times too when leaving the house.
i rekon he scraped it himself and he and his wife have decided this is the plan we'll blame so and so over the road as insurers just pay out right!.0 -
Don't get me wrong, it's easy to damage a car without noticing. My boss reversed into my car in his Toyota Avensis made a hell of a dent. He only realized when he got home and noticed a tiny smear of red paint.
That said, he came to me the next day to inform me and all was well (he paid the cost of the repair).
This chap has taken what is almost two months to tell you. Relying on your conscience is not an option. Like I've said, you might not have noticed. My boss only noticed because he emptied his boot. What with the water on the roads etc, the spray may well have washed the red paint off and he'd have never realized.
I would inform the elderly gentleman that you will not be paying. He really needed to come to you immediately after the accident. No doubt there will have been paint on your tow bar... if it happened. He's identified the wrong vehicle, and now his wife isn't sure it even happened.
Nah, I would be out.0 -
The saga continues!
The boy's come to my door this morning. I was round the back getting my golf clubs from the garage so my wife answered the door. When I came round the front, he said to me that "we need to find another way to resolve this". I explained to him that as far as I was concerned the matter was resolved. I had explained the circumstances to my insurance company, and asked if he had done the same.
He said he hadn't yet phoned his insurance company as he was with a different insurance company at that time. I explained that his insurance company wasn't my responsibility. At this point he became quite aggressive, shouting and waggling his finger "you did it", "you know you did it", "what happened to you being honest?" and so on. As my wife was standing at the door with our eighteen-month old daughter, I raised my voice in response and told him to stop shouting, stop waggling his finger and to leave my property immediately.
As he was leaving (after about 20 seconds) he said to me "you'll regret this". I asked the gentleman if that was a threat, and if he was threatening me, and did I need to notify the police. At this point he changed to "your conscience will regret this". I told him my conscience was clear.
I then decided to contact Police Scotland and give them the story. They agreed that this was a ludicrous (their words) situation to be in. They said that I had done the right thing by again asking the gentleman to contact his insurance company. However they also asked if I wished to raise a complaint of harassment. I said no to this, but if he kept visiting I would in the future.
Interestingly, the police then said that if they did come out to take a statement from us both, they would inform the gentleman that his wife has committed an offence by witnessing a traffic collision and failing to report that. I didn't know that, but it's interesting to know.
Also, by sheer coincidence, I noticed this evening that several of the solar lights that line our path (left by the previous owner) have went missing. I'm sure it's just a coincidence though, but this is making me want to phone the police again and notify them.
Any ideas?"Facism arrives as your friend. It will restore your honour, make you feel proud, protect your house, give you a job, clean up the neighbourhood, remind you of how great you once were, clear out the venal and the corrupt, remove anything you feel is unlike you... [it] doesn't walk in saying, "our programme means militias, mass imprisonments, transportations, war and persecution."0
