Laminate Floor

I've been thinking of putting the SAME wooden laminate down in all the rooms, except the bathroom and kitchen.

Recently a friend advised it would look strange to have it the same in all rooms. She got me thinking that perhaps its best to have corridors all one laminate, and bedrooms a different laminate.

Can I have some of your opinions please.

I agree, definitely better to have it as uniform as possible.

Yep, definitely lay the same laminate. If you can try not to change the orientation of the way it is laid either (although this can be tricky going from long hallways into wide rooms).

I moved into my property 3 months ago and since day one it has annoyed me that the wc/porch, hallway, kitchen and livingroom all have different flooring.

I'm redoing the kitchen so I'm using that as my excuse to change the flooring as I want it all the same. I hopefully going for karndean so no issues with different widths etc. I think that the rooms will all flow better if they have the same flooring.
  • I think it would look bizarre to have it different in the hall and the rooms!

    Devil's advocate question.

Do you really want laminate in the bedrooms?

We have the same laminate throughout our house except for the kitchen and bathroom. It runs in the same direction throughout which looks better than the original wooden floors which ran in different directions.

However, one thing we did do was to deliberately cut the flooring at each doorway after installing it throughout. We then fitted a joining strip at each doorway. This makes each room seperate which helps should you ever need to lift the flooring in a single room due to damage/access to floor underneath etc. We didnt do that in our last house and had a right pain of a job when we came to replace some of the kitchen flooring due to a leak.
