camcorder to dvd

hi all, i want to put my camcorder tapes onto a dvd, through a dvd recorder (it is an old phillips one, but works fine, i have it connected correctly as i can see the picture through the tv, and it plays fine, as soon as i press the record button on the recorder the screen freezes, yet it keeps playing through the viewfinder on the camera and i get an disc error message on the recorder, any ideas?:(

Are you using a + dvd rather than a -, philips only record + because i have an older model !!0

yes i am using + dvd, also tried +dv-rw0
